Parenting Book Club – “Glow Kids”
The kids are back in school…
I wrote a post tonight about finding some semblance of control around creating and owning a media plan that’s in alignment with our family’s goals and values as we go back into the compressed school year schedule.
I know I’m not alone as a parent with a growing concern around not even so much the amount of time my kids spend on their devices, since we do have guidelines in place from a usage perspective, although not totally hardlined, at least not yet.
My worries are more centered around kids’ brain development, the addictive quality of screen tech, and the mounting evidence of research correlating screen time with disorders, including ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, increased aggression, and even psychosis, as documented by Dr. Nick Kardaras in “Glow Kids: How Screen Additction Is Highjacking Our Kids – And How to Break the Trance“.
It’s high time I crack this book open, and I thought it would be wonderful to create a local book club to connect with local parents feeling challenged around navigating the digital landscape and hold space for dialogue, sharing, and support. I encourage others to do the same with your friends and school communities!
I would love for youto join me on 3 Tuesdays in September – 9/3, 9/17, and 9/24 at 7:00 p.m. to dive in, create community, and partake in engaging conversation!
