Milk: It Most Definitely Does NOT Do A Body Good

This is the 1st of an article in a series I’m creating entitled, “The Top Lies You’ve Been Fed By ‘The Culture'”

“Milk: It Does a Body Good.” It’s a great slogan, and one that certainly has stuck over time. Unfortuantely it’s a blatant lie used to sell a lot of dairy products.

I remember when the “milk myth” was first debunked to me at Tony Robbins’, “Unleash the Power Within”. I couldn’t understand why I had been told my whole life that it’s great source of calcium, excellent for bone and teeth health, and protects against osteoporosis.  Not only is that not true, but drinking milk has the opposite effect. Women who eat diets rich in animal foods excrete more calcium in their urine, providing a negative calcium balance, putting them at higher risk for osteoporosis!

I didn’t take Tony’s word for it, so I went out and bought “The China Study: Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss, and Long-Term Health” by T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D.  and Thomas M. Campbell III. when I got back from the event. This was after I accepted his 10-Day Challenge to eliminate or drastically reduce the poisons of most of the food I grew up on, with dairy products being one of them. After 10 days, at age 39, I felt so truly vital and and amazing from the inside out, that I elected to keep going with ditching the stuff.

T. Colin Campbell has been at the forefront of  nutrition research for more than 40 years and has received a total of 74 grant years of peer-reviewed research funding and aithoired or co-authired more than 350 scientific articles and teaches Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, and in 1998 he received the Research Achievement Award from the American Institute for Cancer Research.

The China Study is the most comprehensive sutdy of health and nutrition EVER conducted. Based on a 27-year grant from the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society, and the American Institute for Cancer Research , Dr. Campbell revealed the following findings:

  • Cancer was consistently promoted by casein, which makes up 87% of cow’s milk protein.
  • Low protein diets inhibited the initiation of cancer by aflatoxin, a mild toxin found in peanuts and corn (aflatoxin is one of the most potent carcinogens ever discovered).
  • After cancer initiation, low-protein diets dramatically blocked subsequen cancer growth.
  • Even at high levels of intale, “safe” proteins from plants did not promote cancer.

Bottom line conculsion from all of Campbell’s findings: “people who consume the most animal-based food get the most chronic diseases, and that even small amounts of animal-based food cause adverse effects.”

Another highly trusted source I turned to around that same time is Dr. Neal Barnard from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). In fact, they are petitioning the USDA as we speak to remove dairy from MyPlate Guidelines.  because “scientific evidence shows that dairy products offer little if any protection for bone health and increase the risk of asthmabreastovarian, and prostate cancers, cognitive declineheart disease, and early death.” Slightly disconcerting when you’ve been encouraged to consume it daily since you could walk and talk. And you wonder why we have an epidemic of chronic illness in both children and adults in this country?

Also, milk is the cause of your  mucus, phlegm, and congestion issues.  Here is a great article on it here: https://livelovefruit.com/milk-and-mucus-production/

It also explains why food companies pay for “scientifc articles” and the results are eight times more likely to be favorable to the company’s financial interests than if the study were independently funded.

And if you aren’t convinced that consuming dairy is unkind to your body, you should see how factory farms treat the poor cows 🙁  You would never drink milk again. These animals have the same feelings as our dogs that are our family members. Truly senseless cruelty.  Don’t take my word for it. These articles abound the internet with a simple google search. You are going to be PISSED at how you have been deceived and that your health and your children’s health are of little to no interest by the “trusted” brands you grew up on and the goverment agencies that are supposed to protect you. Big Agriculture is BIIIGGG business, and while the truth sucks, seeking it, and telling it is the kind thing to do.

The truth is that plant foods are naturally high in calcium.  Greens, nuts, seeds, and beans are where it’s at – just two tablespoons of chia seeds contain six times the amount of calcium found in a glass of milk! You can find an entire list of plant-based foods high in calcium here.

Here’s a short list of other compelling and factual data on why you don’t need to –  actually shouldn’t –  drink milk…afterall, cows don’t drink cow’s milk.

The great news is, consumers have been waking up to the fact that they’ve been lied to and taking health into their own hands, which is why so many amazing non-dairy brands and products exist – and I swear they taste better! The demand is there and growing every day.  Using your voice to petition corporations and agencies absolutely makes a difference, but its up to us to take action.

Here is a short list of my favorite brands for nondairy milk, butter, and cheeses. These companies are socially conscious, creating products that are better for you AND do no harm to the animals and the environment. Win-win-win!

#VLOVES:

Oatly – best nondairy milk EVER – and it tastes amazing in lattes, unlike almond milk, which I could never get accustomed to!

Miyoko’s Creamery – delicious plant-based butter (far from the margarines and shitty butter replacements of the past), gourmet vegan cheeses that are dinner party-worthy for your guests, and cream cheeses.

Kite Hill – award-winning nondairy yogurts, cheeses, and pastas.

SoDelicious – yogurts and frozen desserts made from cashew milk, coconut milk, and almond milk.

I’d love to hear your favorite vegan, plant-based brands and am eager to hear your feedback here if you are inspired to experiment with these delicious products for yourself!

Why is Kindness the Solution? Because we have been experieincing a profound spiritual disconnection from ourselves and our Source. When we choose love over fear, truth over deception, kindness over corruption and greed, and consciousness over staying asleep, we experience the profound beauty of what it means to truly all be connected and alive here on this earth together today.  A great awakening is happening, and I’m honored to be on this journey of truth seeking, truth telling, and empowerment together.
